Log Jira time daily, approve monthly

Time logging fails because it is remembered at the end of the month. Jira Time Logger moves it to where the work already happens — a badge that shows the hours you still owe, a banner on the Jira issue you have open, and a single monthly view for approvals.

What it does

  • Toolbar badge

    A running count of the hours still missing for today, visible without opening anything.

  • Inline banner on Jira

    On a Jira issue page, a quiet prompt to log against the ticket you are already looking at. Dismissible for the day.

  • Daily reminder

    One notification at a time you choose, and only if you have not logged anything yet that day.

  • Manager view

    For people with direct reports, a monthly matrix of team hours for review and approval.

  • Works offline-ish

    Entries that fail to reach Jira are queued and retried, so a dropped connection does not lose your work.

  • Two ways to connect

    Sign in with Atlassian OAuth, or paste an Atlassian API token if your site prefers that.

Getting it

Some organisations install Jira Time Logger automatically on managed devices through browser policy, in which case it simply appears in your toolbar — nothing to download, no setup file to run. Otherwise, install it from its Chrome Web Store listing. Either way, connect it to your Jira site once and you are done.

Permissions, in plain terms

The extension asks for the smallest set of permissions that lets it do its job. Here is what each one is for.

Identity To sign you in to your own Atlassian site through Atlassian's OAuth flow, so the extension never handles your password.
Storage To keep your sign-in, your settings and a small cache of your own Jira data on your device, so you are not asked to reconnect every session.
Alarms To schedule the daily reminder, refresh your access token before it expires, retry failed entries and keep the badge current.
Notifications To show the one daily reminder, and only when you have not logged time yet.
Access to Atlassian sites To read and write your worklogs through the Jira API, and to show the inline banner on Jira pages. The extension reaches no other websites.

No analytics, no third parties

The extension sends no telemetry and contacts no analytics or crash-reporting service. The only servers it talks to are Atlassian's, on behalf of your own account. The Privacy Notice sets this out in full.
